Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 105)

It is said that it is very easy to conceive a dream, but it is very difficult to implement that dream. No, it is not so. When you conceive a dream on realistic ground after thorough examining and ascertaining your resources, your capabilities, your priorities and your confidence, you can accomplish them easily. However, fear of failure is one big reason why many people can’t seem to move forward in life. They constantly dream big dreams, set big goals, create big plans – only to find themselves procrastinating, holding back, or making little progress. Let us consider how we can transform fear of failure.

Transforming Fear of Failure

It is true that if you fear failure you are essentially setting yourself up for failure, or at least constant obstacles or problems that block the progress you want to make. Even if you don’t think this problem applies to you, remember that a fear of failure isn’t always obvious, either. Our minds have ways of tricking us that are very convincing.

For example, let’s say you set a goal to lose weight and get into better shape for the New Year. You start out very well, sticking to your workouts and eating right. The numbers on the scale are beginning to creep downward – when all of a sudden you find yourself in situations that are ripe with temptation. You forget to bring your nutritious lunch to work one day, visit the cafeteria and choose the most fattening meal on the menu – then you wonder why you did that? Or you call a friend and invite him or her to dinner at a restaurant and use the outing as an excuse to eat more than you should, effectively blowing your healthy eating plan for the day.

You may not realize right away that you’re sabotaging your own efforts. In fact, it’s usually quite the opposite: you feel frustrated because these outer influences are interfering with your plan to lose weight! However, if you dig deeply enough and look closely at what’s really going on, you’ll usually find some fears lurking beneath the surface.

You may realize that your shrinking size brings up feelings of fear because you know that other people are going to start noticing, which will put more pressure on you to keep going. You may be afraid of reaching a plateau and getting stuck there – so you invent external situations that you can point to and say, “I failed because of that.”

There are many possible ways for a fear of failure to make itself known, but you’ll usually notice it because of an inner sense of hesitation or dread, or even a lack of self-belief.

The Remedy:

In order to overcome a fear of failure, you have to first understand that goal achievement is not a “one shot deal”. Rarely are situations so black and white. In fact, the only way you can truly fail is if you stop trying.

You may fear slipping up with your healthy eating plan because it will mean “failure” – but the only person who can decide whether you’ve failed or not is none else but YOU only. If you decide that one slip is not a big deal and get right back on plan, have you failed? Of course not.

The concept of “failure” is based solely on your own perceptions. If you refuse to buy into a rigid concept of failure and success and instead just take the process one day at a time – one moment at a time – you can’t fail. You will simply keep making positive choices and enjoying the progress that comes along with them.

To succeed, you need to make it your mission to focus on success! Focus on believing that you can accomplish anything you desire. Focus on how great you will feel when your goal has been manifested in full living color.

Be Happy – Don’t fear failure in your attempts. You will surely be successful to Accomplish Your Dreams.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 104)

Generally, it happens that we start to implement our dreams very energetically but after some time, we give up the process and get depressed due to some frustration or hurdles in the midway. Sometime, lack of belief in your own abilities is also a common reason why you do not find your New Year Resolutions easy to be implemented. If you really believed you could achieve your goal, you probably would have done it before now unless your goal is brand new. But most people set the same goals multiple times before they actually achieve them. Whatever you do, you must have self confidence.

Creating Self Confidence

How can you represent yourself if you don’t have a strong belief in yourself? Probably the most telling clue is that you’ll hesitate when it comes to taking risks. You may find yourself holding back on something you really want to do, or you might procrastinate on taking action steps related to your goals.

In order to achieve any goal, you first need to believe you can. This involves much more than hoping or wishing – it requires an unshakable core belief in your own ability to work through challenges, stay committed and do whatever it takes to be successful. You must be mentally prepared to face whatever be the odds in your way.

But how do you build belief in yourself and your abilities? Most of us are not born with this level of confidence; we have to build it little by little.

The Remedy:

There are two angles from which you can create self confidence :

Mentally

One of the best ways to build up your belief is to keep envisioning yourself accomplishing the goal you have set. Did you know that athletes have participated in studies where they mentally “practiced” their sport over and over – and their physical performance improved as a result? It’s true! Visualization is incredibly powerful, so use that tool to your advantage.

You may also find it helpful to recite some powerful affirmations like these:

“I can do this, I know I can.”

“I’m willing to believe that I can handle this challenge.”

“I’m nervous, but I’m going to do it anyway.”

“I grow in confidence with every step I take!”

“With enough practice, everything becomes easy.”

Additionally, you may also want to take a few minutes each day to think about some previous accomplishments. What other activities did you once feel nervous about, but have since mastered? Relive those old fears and feel proud about your ability to overcome them! Remind yourself that you can do the same thing with your current goals.

Physically

Do the very thing you fear! The more you do something, the more confident you’ll become with it, right? It’s just like anything else in life. The first time you drove a car you were probably shaky and nervous. The first time you gave a speech you were probably standing in a puddle of sweat.

It’s the old “fight or flight” response to a perceived threat – and it’s completely normal! It’s your mind’s way of telling your body that it may be entering a dangerous situation. But if you can keep pushing through that fear, it will eventually go away because you’ll condition yourself to believe that there is truly nothing to fear.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 103)

As a year begins, you try to Accomplish Your Dreams or you may revise them keeping in view the developments that took place in the previous year. While drafting your plans for the next year, you consider what exactly you wish for and in that direction, you may have to be flexible as well as positive also. You need to balance your efforts with alignment to your dreams and preparing yourself internally to Accomplish Your Dreams. It is also true that every action has reaction – every transaction involves give and take. If you give something to someone, that someone will take it. That means for gaining satisfaction, you may have to pay out something – you may have to sacrifice something to gain something.

Sacrificing for Your Betterment

Every goal requires sacrifice of some kind, and it’s easy to forget this sometimes. Most often we tend to focus on what we stand to gain from the achievement of our goals, not what we stand to lose. However, failing to acknowledge and prepare for the sacrifices can set us up for a rude awakening and threaten our eventual success.

What kind of sacrifices have you made for your goals in the past? Did you give up some of your favorite television shows so you could spend more time working on your goals? Did you give up your favorite dessert when you started a new health regime?

Let’s face it; sacrifices aren’t fun. It usually means giving up something you enjoy, even if temporarily. But, does that always have to be true? You may be surprised to learn that with the right outlook, sacrifices can seem like a good thing.

The Remedy:

When it comes to sacrifices, only two things matter:

Willingness

Very often when you are willing to release something that is no longer serving you, it becomes a simple act. It’s only when you keep clinging to something that letting it go seems really difficult.

It also helps if you keep affirming that what you stand to gain is worth the cost of what you’re giving up. Rarely are these rigid concepts; more often they will change according to your perceptions.

For example, when you first set your goals and start working toward them you may believe that your sacrifices are well worth it. Your motivation is strong and you’re feeling optimistic that you can overcome any temptations to slide back into old habits.

But as time goes on and you begin to miss the things that once provided a sense of comfort or pleasure, you may wonder whether you can continue making these sacrifices. In fact, the question “Is it worth it?” is one you’ll probably have to answer over and over again until you reach a point where your new habits have overridden the old.

Trust

Even more important than being willing to let go of destructive or unproductive habits is the ability to trust that the actions you take today will pay off in the future. You have to trust that the situations, people, places and things you are releasing will be replaced by even better things later.

Belief comes into this step in a big way – if you don’t believe that your goals will be realized, you may have trouble trusting the bigger process of manifestation. However, you can work on this by consistently affirming your belief and your trust day by day. The more you do, the stronger your belief will grow and the easier it will be to trust.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 102)

Whenever we conceive a dream and take action to accomplish that, we feel certain that after accomplishing that dream, we would become a different person, different in the sense that we have achieved something which was earlier in the conception stage. Now, we can take action on something else. Most of the time, this all happens externally only. We do not make up ourselves internally for that advancement and accordingly find ourselves unable to enjoy our achievements fully and share our pleasure with others. We must prepare ourselves internally also.

Do the Inner Work First

We typically think of goal-achievement as an external process only. We are here at Point A, and we want to move to Point B. While we do indeed make external changes, we also need to remember that we would become a different person after the achievement of our goals. Therefore, we will undergo an internal adjustment even as we’re making external transitions.

You can’t achieve anything outwardly until you get aligned with it within – which means steadily becoming the person who will have the outer circumstances you want. How can this happen?

If you don’t prepare yourself for the new circumstances you’re trying to create, you won’t be mentally and emotionally ready to handle them. Let’s use an example to expand on this idea.

Imagine that your goal is to lose 50 pounds of your weight. If you simply focus on “losing weight,” you’ll overlook the fact that you gained weight in the first place because of specific reasons – and you’ll struggle not to gain it all back unless you make some inner changes.

Doing some inner work might reveal that you gained weight because of low self-esteem, believing that you don’t deserve time for self-care, or emotional vulnerability. You can bet that these kinds of beliefs need to be resolved – or they will keep limiting your ability to lose weight, keep it off and live a happier life.

The same thing happens with other types of goals. You can set a goal to be more successful in business, but if you don’t first understand what has limited your success thus far, you might simply repeat the cycle at a later time. Do you have trouble believing in your own abilities? Are you afraid of taking risks? Do you have a fear of selling that limits how much you promote your products and services? Addressing these underlying issues may make the difference between failure and success.

Why do you require inner support?

Inner support is required for getting rid of the thinking that you are doing something as per the dictations being given by someone else – you are being commanded by some external factors or you are doing something for which you are not mentally prepared. If you feel that you do not have any compulsion to do some job in terms of financial crunch, short time or some pressure, you can concentrate fully on the job and give better results.

The Remedy:

One of the most effective strategies for overcoming this problem is to consider the qualities you’d need to handle the achievement of your goal, and begin building them now.

For example, if your goal is greater business success or better income, better job, better finance, better house etc., ask yourself what qualities a successful person would have – such as confidence, courage, creativity, flexibility, and so on. Once you’ve got a list of these qualities, begin developing them within yourself. Practice being more confident and courageous, express your creative side more often, work on being flexible as often as possible, etc.

If your goal is to live a healthier lifestyle, consider why you haven’t been living such a lifestyle until now. Do you have trouble believing that you deserve to be healthy and happy? Does much of your diet consist of “comfort food” that covers emotional issues you could be resolving in a healthier way?

If you work on these inner issues while you’re also doing the outer work, your chances of lasting success will double. As you may have guessed, this is also one of the secrets of successful manifesting – being able to “be” that which you want to attract. If you want to attract a lot of money, you need to be a person who has plenty of money. If you want to attract your soul mate, you have to be a person who already has their soul mate. If you want to expand your social network, you will have to be a person who likes wider social network. You will have to change yourself internally to suit your dreams. Outwardly, you may pretend only – you would not be able to enjoy the fruits of your accomplishment if they have been achieved without your inner support for them.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 101)

Every fraction of time is important in human life. We have for convenience defined the time in terms of seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, fortnights, months and years. Time is running and the year 2009 is fast approaching to its close. When it was going to start, some of you might have planned to accomplish some dreams. Some of you might have succeeded to do so, the other ones could not. Whatever be the reasons, there is another opportunity to review our working and improve so that next year, we may try to accomplish them or we may revise them keeping in view the developments that took place in the current year. While drafting our plans for the next year, we may consider what exactly we wish for and in that direction, we may have to be flexible as well as positive also to Accomplish Our Dreams. A step ahead, we need to balance our efforts with alignment to our dreams.

Balancing Effort with Alignment Of Your Dreams.

Working toward any new goal seems hard at the beginning, but sometimes we underestimate just how hard it can get. Sometimes the struggle is the result of unrealistic expectations, like we covered ago. Taking on a bigger goal than you’re ready for can definitely make the journey to be impossible.

But there’s also a more common reason for goal-achievement seeming difficult at the beginning, and that is: you have to build momentum before it will seem easier.

A common analogy used to describe momentum is pushing a car. To get the car rolling, you have to exert a lot of force. But the longer you push, momentum begins to take over and you hardly have to push at all to keep the car moving along.

Goals are very much the same in that you have to work harder at them in the beginning than you do toward the end. If you work at them for long enough, you enter this “zone” where it just seems simple to take the action steps and make steady progress each day.

Another good example is starting a new fitness routine. Your first workout will probably seem a little bit like torture. Your muscles will burn and ache; you’ll be drenched in sweat and end up wondering if a sedentary life might not be so bad after all.

But what happens if you keep pushing through your workouts every day? You build muscle and get stronger. You feel more energetic. You’ll probably even begin to enjoy working out. The stronger you get, the more easily you are able to keep up the momentum.

Every goal will have this in common. But it goes much deeper than physical effort; you also need to build up your “vibrational muscles” by consistently attuning to the outcome you are trying to create. All of the action in the world cannot overcome energetic gaps. If you don’t work daily on getting aligned with your desired outcome, the actions you take will seem much harder than they really need to be, and probably be completely ineffective.

The Remedy:

Obviously, the remedy for this one is simple: keep your efforts in proper perspective by working steadily toward the outcome each day and remembering that you are building momentum. Keep reminding yourself that it won’t always be so challenging. While that sounds simple, it may not always be easy to convince yourself. Therefore, here are a couple of strategies that will help you align with your goal mentally and energetically:

Relish the challenge.

Have you ever noticed that your self-talk determines your attitude? If you keep whining about how hard it is, that it will take forever to make progress, you’re going to be miserable and probably make very little progress.

On the other hand, if you were to keep telling yourself that you’re enjoying the process, that it’s not so bad, that you feel great as you take one step after another toward your goals – you’ll instantly feel more motivated and your progress will probably be greater too. Convince yourself that you have what it takes to keep moving forward and that it’s not as hard as you feared. Often, just believing this is enough to make it so.

Baby steps.

At any point if you feel intimidated or frustrated because you’re not making progress quickly enough, try narrowing your focus onto one tiny aspect of your goal. Every goal will probably have numerous action steps that you’ll take each day as you work toward it, but trying to do all of them at once might prove overwhelming.

If that’s the case, try doing just one of the action steps until it gets easier. Then add another one, and another, until you are doing all of them with less struggle.

As for energetic alignment, one of the best ways to get steadily more aligned with your outcome is to keep imagining it already accomplished. Sit quietly and envision yourself enjoying the goal already accomplished. See yourself enjoying your bigger salary, living in the home of your dreams, feeling great about your slender new body. Do this daily and you will be consistently altering your energetic signal to match the essence of what you are trying to achieve, which means the physical effort you need to apply to achieve it will be much less than it would be otherwise.

It is therefore advisable to balance your efforts in alignment to your dreams – you can achieve your targets even if they seem to be impossible in the beginning or you feel that to be tiring in the process.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 100)

It has become some ritual type practice that at the end of a year, we review our performance and make some determination for the next year. Yesterday, we felt the need of identifying what exactly we wish for because it has been found a common problem for many of us that we do not know about our exact requirement and when we attempt to accomplish our dreams, after a few steps, we find that we are moving in wrong direction. So, it is essential that we must identify what exactly we wish for. Similarly, we have some other problems also. The next one, how are we patient about our targets?

Holding Positive, Yet Flexible Expectations

How many times have you set a massive goal while thinking, “This will be a breeze”?

You imagine yourself effortlessly taking action each day, easily moving toward your chosen outcome and reaching it in record time. Unfortunately, that’s not the way it usually happens.

Instead, you struggle almost from the get-go and feel overwhelmed and frustrated when you don’t seem to be progressing as quickly as you planned. Rather than acknowledging that you may have set your sights too high, you may be tempted to give up altogether.

Unfortunately, we often fail to realize that it is far easier to think about doing something than it is to actually DO it, especially if we have limiting beliefs that might be holding us back.

With every goal you set, understand that there is going to be a period of transition as you work toward it. You can’t expect to make a giant leap from mailroom clerk to CEO in a matter of weeks, or lose 50 pounds in a month, or go from being a couch potato to a marathon runner overnight.

But you also can’t allow negative expectations to prevent you from trying at all. Rather, your goal should be to keep your expectations positive but also flexible.

The Remedy:

One good way to do this is to start smaller. Not many people will enjoy hearing that, but it’s a good idea if you want to avoid getting frustrated and giving up.

There’s nothing wrong with setting big goals and having big dreams, but you also want to start with those that you believe are most achievable. The truth is that all goals are achievable, especially when you work in co-creative partnership with the universe, but you may have a hard time believing that some goals are achievable, and if you believe that you will block them from manifesting.

However, you can overcome these obstacles by either setting smaller goals to start with, or balancing your expectations of how and when your goal will come to fruition. Which one you choose will depend on your personal preferences.

There are people who can set a large goal, hold to their vision and diligently work toward it for years until they achieve it. They never lose sight of what they’re working toward, they don’t doubt that they will receive the outcome they want, and they’re willing to wait patiently until it happens.

But some people are the opposite – they want results and they want them fast! If that describes you, you’ll probably be happier setting smaller goals and enjoying moderate results as you go along.

Remember, you can expand your goal consistently too. If your ultimate goal is to be earning $100,000 a year with your own business but you feel too overwhelmed or intimidated by that figure, start with a smaller goal of $20,000 and then raise the amount when you reach the first benchmark. If you want to lose $50, try focusing on $10 at a time. $50 sounds like a lot, but when you consider that it’s only 5 sets of $10, it seems a lot more achievable.

Nearly any large goal can be broken down into smaller pieces – and when you focus on achieving those smaller goals they eventually add up to big success!

Another important point to keep in mind is that you don’t have to achieve the entire goal on your own. Encourage others to work with you. Hold to the vision and you will be led to the people, resources, opportunities and means to achieve the goal more easily than you could accomplish on your own. Just be flexible about how and when all this progress happens. Expect the best but don’t get attached to specific ways or timeframes. You can Accomplish Your Dreams smoothly.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 99)

We are near the close of the year 2009. That time of the year has come when you may like to evaluate your progress and gear up to start fresh on your goals in the next year. During your process of taking account what you have so far achieved against the goals set by you for the current year, it might be possible that many of you may not be satisfied with the achievements. Some of you might have made no more progress than you had in previous years, simply because you did not change your self-destructive thought patterns. Those who have achieved and exceeded their targets may also be feeling some disappointment, after reviewing, to ascertain if they could have done better and why they did not care for sufficiently.

If you are doing such assessment sincerely, it is an appreciable attempt. It gives you an opportunity to take stock of your caliber and improve it further. You can set resolutions for the New Year – some can be renewal of those which had been within your focus during the current year and some of them can be your steps ahead of what you achieved so far.

You can adopt some simple strategies to align energetically with your New Year resolutions and achieve them easily. Just it is very much depending upon your determination.

Every year at its close, you start to think about the changes you want to make, conceive a genius plan that will change your life forever, and wait eagerly for January 1st to arrive. When the clock strikes midnight on December 31st, it’s full steam ahead! You’re off to a great start and confidently begin taking the steps you know will lead directly to Accomplish Your Dreams!

You will start your working too accordingly. Sometime later, maybe even a month later, you may begin losing steam. In the beginning, it may be small things, like encountering a few minor obstacles or struggling to stay motivated about working on your goals; but before you know it, you find yourself feeling stuck, tired, angry, frustrated and wondering what you were thinking why you set these stupid goals anyway. Eventually, you will give up and vow to do better next year – but the following year, you would just repeat the same cycle all over again – it happens with many of us.

Generally, you may face one or more amongst common problems while pursuing your goals. One amongst these common problems can be as follows, with helpful remedy for working through them effectively.

But you should attempt upon by getting yourself energetically aligned with it first! Action alone is not enough – you’ve probably learned that from your previous unrealized resolutions. Get ready to see your New Year Resolutions in a whole new way – and achieve more than you ever believed possible before.

Identify What Exactly You Wish

One of the biggest mistakes people make when setting New Year Resolutions is that they don’t first get clear idea about what they REALLY want, and more importantly, WHY they want it.

Do you know what you want - really? Don’t be tempted to skip over this section because you think you already know what you want. Think about this for a moment:

How many times have you achieved a goal and then quickly realized that you weren’t satisfied with it? Such an experience can be confusing, to say the least! You wonder how you could have chosen a goal that now seems not to matter at all to you. Or you point to one tiny negative aspect of the outcome and say, “Well, if it wasn’t for that, I’d be satisfied. It just didn’t turn out like I hoped, that’s all.”

But that’s not usually what’s happening in this type of situation. Rather, you may have set a goal based on the surface circumstances that you believed would make you feel happy, rather than focusing on the underlying ESSENCE of what you really wanted.

For example, let’s say that one of your goals was to work less so you have more time to enjoy life. You manage to rearrange your schedule so you have more time to yourself, but within a few weeks you start feeling bored and restless. You decide that freedom is overrated and eagerly bury yourself in work again – but you still feel dissatisfied and yearn for something more.

What happened with this goal? There are numerous possibilities, but most likely you were craving something else, not just “freedom” – but you never connected with exactly what you wanted.

Perhaps you were actually craving creative expression, which you could have satisfied by setting aside a few hours a week to explore your artistic side. Maybe you actually desired a deeper spiritual connection, which you could have achieved through daily meditation or journaling.

Every goal you set will have a deeper desire stemming from it. But that deeper desire can not be achieved smoothly unless you know what it is.

The Remedy:

Rather than focusing on the external situation or circumstances you are trying to create with your New Year Resolution, focus on the underlying FEELING you want to experience.

Whenever you set a goal, your immediate question should be, “Why do I want this?” Don’t allow yourself to give a pat answer like, “It will make me happy.” WHY will it make you happy? What feelings will these new circumstances or experiences provide for you? Why are these feelings important to you? What deeper needs will they satisfy?

You may be surprised by what comes up when you start asking questions like this. You’ll become aware of needs you didn’t even know you had. But that’s a good thing, because only by knowing what you truly want can you tune into it and attract it.

Another side benefit is that by being clear on what you want, you may discover much easier and quicker ways to get it, maybe by making some small changes instead of tackling huge goals that will take years to achieve. Sometimes we can’t see the forest for the trees and end up making things much harder than they need to be.

When you tune into the essence of what you want and stay focused on it, you will be able to lead yourself to the easiest, fastest, simplest methods and opportunities to help you achieve it. That beats long, complex, difficult plans that you would have created yourself.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 98)

With the advancement of civilization, man started to form communities and felt to regularize the living in such communities. In course of time, such regulations came to be known as religion. Religion means code of living with attachment of spiritual values. It is the foundation for the welfare of humanity. It is universally agreed upon that all the wealth he may accumulate will not accompany him when he leaves the world. Hence, it is still better for him to live on this earth happily and let other people live so. As you sow, so you will reap.

In all worldly activities, you should apply propriety, or the canons of good nature. You should be prepared at all times to respect the appropriate dictates of conscience; you should watch your steps to see whether you are in someone else’s way; you must be ever vigilant to discover the Truth variety. That is your duty to the humanity, which must be your religion as such.

There isn’t one code of living for the people living in east and another for westerners. It must be accepted as universal. There is a test that may be applied to any action and you may thereby determine if it is according to such standard. Let not that which you do, harm or injure another. This flows from the recognition that the light that is yourself, your own conscience feeling that what you will take if you would have been there and being injured in the same way as you are hurting at present.

As I understand, there are four types of duties: duties relating to one’s occupational group, duty towards the nation and society, duties relating to nature and duties when faced with danger.

All these four types of duties are related to one’s life in the phenomenal world and are not concerned with the Supreme Reality. All these duties have penalties for their violation. Without these penalties organised life is impossible.

If we are able to follow our duties without looking into account whether your neighbor is performing his duties, no doubt in course of time that you are going to win and your sincere performance will come forward to protect you. It is our Dharma and Dharma protects those who protect dharma. The true place of sincerity towards performance of duties is the heart and what emanates from the heart as a pure idea when translated into action is dharma. Each one has to do the duty that has come upon him, with responsibility, to the best of his ability. There should be complete coordination between what one feels, says and does. Working for the duties is the best form of worship.

If you begin to regard duty as your worship to God, the ego will disappear. You will acquire a sense of oneness and unity of all life; in other words, you will experience divinity in everything. Do your duty with devotion as you are performing pious worship to God.

Discharge your duties as devotedly as you can; but carry out your duties as if they are acts of worship offered to God, leaving the fruit of those acts to His will, His compassion. Do not be affected when the results you anticipate are not produced; leave it to Him. He gave you time, space, cause, material, idea, skill, chance and fortune; you did but little of your own. So, why should you feel as if you are the doer? Do your duty as a sincere worker. If you fail somewhere, you may have to accept that somewhere your strategy was not up to mark or somewhere, you could not do according to the strategy.

Whatever you do you must regard it as a duty done without any motive of self-interest or selfish gain. Just do the work assigned to you. Every one must become a worker, a hard worker, a sincere worker and an enthusiastic worker. If you wish to live happily on this earth, you must be ready to spread happiness every where and that depends upon you how you perform your duties to others – the others would reciprocate the same to you, perhaps not immediately but some time later positively.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 97)

Who is the most important person in the world amongst these people - President of US, Prime Minister of India, President of Russia, or the king of some distant enchanted land, or a person who wields power, position or wealth? Do you know? No, none of them is as important as YOU ARE, for yourself.

None in this world has time to think as much about you as you can think of yourself. There is nobody who would ever be so much interested, and it is not right that they should be. Each has his own occupation and reason for admiration in himself.

Whatever is your desire, which deeply forms intent in the development of your interior thought-forces your desires, will frame themselves within measurable size. With a correct understanding of your desires, the requisite self-worth and self-realisation of your power will come to secure them.

Take it granted that honour, riches and power might come to you uninvited, but they would not serve you, and you will lose them again unless they are well earned and you are fully prepared to receive them genuinely, keep them and use them right.

Your first duty is to yourself. You do not perform for the world; you perform for yourself only. Your communion, accord, and atonement with ‘you’ are vital. For as they touch you, you touch all points in the universe. Be it a leaf tip in your vicinity or a heart in another continent. You cannot fail to raise the vibrations of your environment.

Whatever you do, do wholeheartedly. To become hopeless about your lot in life is but to belittle yourself. To be determined on higher-minded, worthier pursuits and remaining always ready and raring to work for better things will bring their own reward. So, realise your importance. Do you present work better than anybody at your age or experience has ever done it before. Higher duties will come upon you at their own as you deserve them for higher rewards, and as you tackle them in the same forward-seeing spirit, a further advancement will be inevitable.

The world needs for persons who think well of themselves. Sufficiently well to dignify themselves by doing each task no matter how small or big, as though it were momentous.

Whatever is worth having is worth working for. Don’t fret and fume at the success of others. Use your time for your own ends; apply it to your immediate task, and be mindful of not leaking inner voltage by paying attention to the result.

Organise yourself. Think well of yourself. Work hard for yourself first before trying to reach all humankind. You are not just a VIP, but a MIPW, The Most Important Person In The World. Having conceived your purpose mentally, mark out a straight pathway to its achievement. When you make your all –consuming purpose the central theme of your life cycle you generate unsurpassed, unparalleled, power. After selecting a worthy goal, place all of your interior energy and resolve, your will-power, effort and everything you’ve got behind that single-minded cause.

To change circumstances, first start thinking differently. Do not go with the circumstances, even for a moment longer than required. By doing so, you relegate and leak a massive life-changing dose of thought-voltage. The kind that makes the inconceivable is conceivable.

Hold your dearest goal-picture steadily; develop it in detail. Believe in it. Work and pursue it as a falcon hurtles headlong into the thermals slip-stream, gaining added super-velocity when after a pigeon. Above this seek divine aid and inspiration and you will actualise it in accord with the mental image in mind.

Water takes the shape of the pipe it flows through. Your life and success will get shaped in direct proportion to the thoughts you allow to flow through the meadow-pasture, that is your mind. You need to develop a positive mind set always ready to advance to implement strategies to Accomplish Your Dreams.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 96)

When we grow up to lead our life, we come across a number of paradoxes. A number of even and odd incidents are there and we have to contend for a smooth life. Somewhere we get our attachments deeper and somewhere we have to give up them. It is sure that you would be free of trouble if there is no love. Without love, you can’t be jealous. Greed comes because you object too much. Anger is because you love perfection; imperfections anger you. You love yourself too much and that’s why you are proud and arrogant. To Accomplish Your Dreams, you may have to review yourself and find out what course is best for you and where you should devote your energies instead of wasting them in anger, greed or idleness.

When we create four walls with a roof thereupon after combining them with each other, we say that we have built up a house. When we start to live in with our family, lead our lives peacefully and lovingly, we say that the house becomes a home. Love makes our life smooth and distortion of love causes problems. Life will have no meaning without love. Suppose you are immensely successful and have all the riches at your command but love is missing from your life. Life will not really be worthwhile; it would appear dry and barren. All what we really long for in life is love.

So how do you get to that point of love where it is free from distortions and you are at ease with yourself? Love with knowledge, understanding that it is your ego that’s obstructing you from innocent love. Ego is like a dream. Real, neither can you call it unreal because you have had the experience. To be egoistic is to be unnatural. The ego is not a substance; it is a non-substance like darkness. Darkness is only lack of light or absence of light. You could say ego is just absence of maturity or the lack of pure knowledge.

Knowledge is an aid to develop your innermost state, which is love. Love is a state of being rather than an act. We are all made up and out of love. When the mind is in the present moment, we are in a state of love. So we need to live in the present moment.

If everything is God and all is love, then where is life heading to? Life is heading towards perfection. You look for perfection; that is why you are angry at imperfections. There are three kinds of perfection: perfection in action, in speech and in feelings.

Suppose someone makes a mistake and when you see that you get angry. Then you are no better than the person who has made the mistake. Your feelings have become imperfect because of someone’s imperfection in action. Any action will have some flaw. But when the feeling becomes imperfect, then it stays for a longer period. Inner perfection is lost.

Spiritual practices help you maintain you concentrated and remain unshaken by small events. Every individual is bestowed with all the virtues. They simply get covered by lack of understanding and stress. Just uncover the virtues that are already there.

Handling the mind directly is difficult. For every emotion in the mind, there is a corresponding rhythm in the breath and for every rhythm in the breath there is a corresponding emotion. Knowing this, and learning various breathing techniques will allow you to deal with mind and emotions effectively. Breathing techniques and meditation are effective in calming the mind. Learning something about our breath is important. Our breath has a great lesson to teach us, which we have forgotten. You may learn techniques of Yoga which may help you in this direction.

Our mind is like a pot that is turned upside down. When we were born, the pot came first with the neck upright. The whole purpose of life is to stand up, turn the pot upside down and empty it. But the pot is filled with something very sticky; though it is standing upside down, it doesn’t get empty. Becoming hollow or empty is the whole purpose of life. You need to give up ill-feelings for others. You will find confidence in concentrating over your strategy to accomplish your dreams.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 95)

Every one of you dreams of being a happy person – it is very natural. You look for pleasure and happiness from every relationship. Your response to life depends largely on what you learn in your childhood through your parents, in the company of teachers, relatives, friends and others when you grow up.

With the advancement of technical advancements in diagnosing ailments and their cure, precautions and nutrients etc., the average age of human life has gone up. Science is still carrying out research to increase our longevity further. We may assume that a healthy-wealthy human being can lead his life successfully at least to hundred years. For the purpose of classifying the years of our age, we simply take first twenty years of our life as a period to be devoted to our upbringing, our education and preparation to have our own family comprised of our spouse and children. Next twenty years are devoted to the upbringing of our issues, leading our family life, looking after our parents and achieving some milestones in our life. Thereafter, in the next third span of twenty years, we do reconsolidation of our resources, abilities and contacts to create some embodiments, to square up our responsibilities like marriage of our children, their proper settlement and other social obligations. In the fourth span of twenty years, we start to get ourselves giving up materialism and guiding other people and in the last span of twenty years, we feel ourselves dependent on our children due to ageing factor. If we remain active up to that stage, we devote ourselves to our religious pursuits.

We may make some other classification suiting our own circumstances and needs. Some of us carry their materialistic life and look after their spiritual pursuits together and some of us take up them one by one. It is very much depending upon the individuals. But one thing is clear that our needs undergo change continuously, as we grow old. Sometime we find ourselves bewildered in the complications created by our emotional attachments to our relations, our achievements and deception we encounter on account of the vested interests of those whom we had been thinking very close to us and were never expected to do so. At that time, we might turn to spiritualism or seek the company of some saints etc. to bring back peace and smiles in our life.

As you are able to get company of saints, you would definitely learn the art of smiling and you will find after reasoning that your grief is nothing but some illusion. Actually, the company of good people equips us with qualities that broaden our horizon of self and surrounding. You develop a strong sense of confidence and so you are in harmony with the world outside. You will learn to be one with nature. You may learn to love everything, even your enemies. Your spirit is replete with compassion and generosity.

In the company of saints, God is revealed to us as the ultimate reality and refuge. The invisible is manifest in every visible object. You may learn to perceive God both in the presence and absence of the visible. It would surface on the landscape of your thought, speech and action.

Once you feel the presence of the Omnipresent Creator around you, you will appreciate, admire and love Creation also. We find that every human being is the spark of the same Divine Light and the image of the same Supreme power. We come to know God not only as the Creator of the universe, but He sustains and destroys also. We learn the principle of action that leaves the outcome upon the Almighty and when the time comes we accept the divine will with a smile.

In a spiritual congregation, we find ourselves in the company of fellow human beings gathered despite their different social, cultural and religious conventions. Spiritually, we all become one. We present a model of unity in diversity, a model of mutual love, peace and understanding trenched in the spiritual consciousness or the realisation of the presence of God in every living being.

The company of saints liberates us from the wrangle of different names assigned to God. Today, Allah is identified with Islam, Ishwar with Hindus and Wahe Guru with Sikhs and so on. We have assigned names to Him/Her according to our own thinking. God has no religion for Himself. It is in a spiritual congregation that we are introduced to the unequivocal and unerring Supreme Entity, whatever the nomenclature be given.

Really, God has no religion for Himself. Hence the soul within every individual too may be above all kinds of religious rites and rituals, customs and conventions associated with religion. In the process we realise the fundamental unity of humankind that raises us above all kinds us above all kind of discrimination. This leads to religious tolerance and communal harmony. Hatred and violence lose their pasture. There is peace within and calm outside. Looking at the conglomeration of such people, one is convinced that ‘not everything is lost’. See in the Langars being hosted at Gurudwaras, there is no question of the status, race, colour, caste or creed and you will find all people enjoying the meals with equal respect.

Universal values get regenerated in the company of saints. They teach us to be humble and polite. While negative feelings stay away, divine virtues like love, compassion, humility, forgiveness, mercy, helpfulness and generosity take their place. Our very attitude is transformed from hatred to love, jealousy to cooperation and violence to non-violence. The entire God’s creation looks beautiful, charming and truthful. There is a culture of peaceful coexistence, of universal brotherhood leading humanity to become a prosperous global family.

So, seek out the company of the wise. Look for the true who can reveal God to you. He will also teach the art of ‘detached attachment’ and thus make you feel complete and capable of enjoying the life as well.

Be Happy – Accomplish Your Dreams By Raising Yourself Above The Question of Caste, Colour And Creed. You can find intelligentsia in every section of the society.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 94)

Have you ever imagined the gadgets modern technology has blessed us with, only add to the stress and tension of our lives. You might have seen young boys and girls walking down parks and green lanes with earphones completely shutting out the world of. It snatches beauty around them. If you keep your life simple, you will feel happy. I do not say that you should not use them. You may but keep some time of your life free of them. They have been provided by the science to assist you, as your assistants, do not let them become your masters. It will help you reduce stress and tension. Possessions and acquisitions may seem marvelous. But after a while, you dot not own them, they own you – after continuous use for some time, you will become dependent upon them.

A Tao story tells us of an artist who was so gifted that his fame spread all over. One day, he painted the picture of a snake. It was so lifelike that viewers seemed to hear it hiss! The artist was so carried away by his own success and the appreciation of his fans that he touched up the snake. He made its eyes glow; he outlined the fangs so that they seemed to dart you! He could not stop; he went on and painted feet on the snake! And he became a laughing stock – the picture of snake lost its glamour just because of adding up the complication. The expression, “Painting feet on a snake”, a Chinese saying, refers to situations that are needlessly made more complicated by people who do not know when and where to stop.

When our life becomes complicated with power and possessions, we move farther and farther away from the simple joys and pleasures of life. We fail to notice morning flowers. We don’t have time to hear birds singing or watch our little ones smiling. We drift away from the state of childlike innocence and simple joy, which is our basic nature. Simplicity is not self-denial. It is a return to those values that matter most in life. It emphasises spontaneity and intuition. It helps us to rediscover the feeling of wonder and joy that we have lost as adults.

There was a wealthy businessman, also a sincere, simple soul. He owned an expensive jet in which he flew about from place to place. His friends asked him if he enjoyed his private pane. His reply was significant. He said it was certainly very convenient; but he had managed to travel without his own plane earlier; in fact, when he was young and poor, the fact that he couldn’t fly did not stop him from being happy. He was really happy at that time. This time, he had to fly as and when there was an opportunity to accomplish something. In this process, he was not able to relax, even when his body required. He had to fly even at the cost of his health. Hence, his possession had then become a liability, yet that was precious.

A famous actress was being interviewed on television. She had made a fortune that year, over a billion dollars. “Does it make you feel good?” she was asked. “Yes and no,” she replied thoughtfully. “Everyone thinks it’s marvellous. So many people flock around me. But I really do not know who my true friends are and who are with me only for the money and the glamour. As for my daily life, it has not changed much, except that I work harder now.” The same break-fast, the same lunch and the same dinner she was enjoying. After becoming a celebrity, she had got additional tension for safeguarding her mounting up treasures and goodwill by working harder and harder making her more restless. It does not mean that you should not work at all. No, you must work but kindly do not let the work overtake your peace of mind.

A group of young men and women were walking across a shopping mall. They were happy and relaxed; they were talking and laughing merrily. Not a care in the world did they seem to have. There was a young girl among them, who happened to glance at the window of a jewellery store which they passed. On display was a beautiful, brilliant diamond bracelet. How it was sparkling and shining! The girl’s eyes opened wide. She went close to the window to inspect the price. She could not afford it. She caught up with her friends but she was not the happy, laughing, bubbly girl that she had been five minutes earlier. Her cheerful, buoyant attitude had been replaced by a mood of glum disappointment. This is the worst part about wanting things. Getting them may give you momentary happiness. But not being able to get them often makes you miserable!

In case you are one such person, how would you afford it? Either, you may have to curtail your wish since you are not able to afford it, or you may borrow some money from some one to get it – you will have to refund the same after some days, or you may do something wrong to get. In such case, you may get yourself in boiling waters. Better, you may wait for the time when you get yourself able to get such thing at your own, without borrowing from some one or without doing anything wrong to get the same. My intention is not to ask you not to dream such things which are beyond your affordability but I mean to say that you must dream and accomplish them with your resources and if you do not have, you must try to develop your resources to deserve the possession of such things.

Be Happy – Accomplish Your Dreams by developing your affordability first.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 93)

As you think to Accomplish Your Dreams, you need to build bridges of kindness, understanding, compassion and harmony. There is a good mention in “Shri Ram Charitmanas” an ancient epic and important part of the Hindu religion.

Lord Rama stood facing the ocean. Thoughts of His wife, Sita were tormenting Him. His army had already arrived and Vibhishana had come across from Lanka and taken refuge. And everyone now pointed to the ocean saying that was the first challenge they needed to meet. As Lord Rama stood watching the vast, deep ocean, He wondered how they would cross it.

For three days and nights He prayed to Lord Sagara, who had been created by his ancestors by excavating the land and seeking the grace of Varuna, God of the water. But Sagara did not respond to His prayers. Since time was running out, Lord Rama began to string his bow declaring his intention to shoot an arrow that would be so powerful as to dry up the ocean and enable His army to attack upon Lanka for getting His wife back. Understanding His plans, cries rang through the air, birds flew home and animals ran hither and thither. The waters rose in agony. Seeing that his brother was determined to carry out His threat, Lakshmana pleaded with Lord Rama to show restraint. “Great people like you do not fall into the trap of anger, that blinds reason and thinking. All that is born of anger does not last. That which is born of consultation and conciliation, alone lives long after man. Your purpose should be achieved without resorting to such an extreme step. Devise some more durable way of crossing the seas,” Lakshmana advised his revered brother.

With his bow still in hand, Lord Rama sees reason in His brother’s argument.Horrified with the would-be consequences, Lord Sagara appeared before Him with his appeal: “We, the earth, air, ether, water and fire are bound by the eternal laws governing nature. It is in my nature, therefore, to be fathomless and incapable of being those laws. Not for greed, desire or out of fear will I solidify so that you and the army can walk over me for that would endanger the lives of beings that live in me. I will not part or move my course by transgressing limits. However, I will help you and your army to cross the ocean by bearing everything that I can without overstepping my limits. Please build on my chest a bridge and the well endowed son of Vishwakarma, Nala, is capable of doing that. I will sustain the bridge.”

Since once the bow is strung, the arrow has to be released, the ocean lord advises Lord Rama to shoot his arrow at a region that has polluted waters, so that it is cleansed of that impurity. Lord Rama decided to follow Sagra’s advice. Nala came forth to build the bridge. Says Nala, “Generally, it is said that the ocean responds only to punishment and not to request. But it is not just because it is duty-bound with its limits. Building a bridge over it is a lasting solution to the problem of getting to other island, it presents to the travellers.”

The bridge was built and the war won, and good triumphed over evil. The bridge was more than a physical entity. It was a symbol of the need to find ways to preserve sanctity of life. Every form of life is subject to eternal laws that which takes into consideration the aspirations and commitment of animals or fathomless waters. Lord Sagara said rightly that if the water had been dried with the anger of Lord Rama, there was the question of the lives of those who were depending on the waters for their survival.

Equally, Lord Rama’s mission was important. To find solutions within the given constraints was the true challenge. When He faced this truth, nature became his supporter and instead of fighting it, He became empowered with its support. Because He was able to work in consonance with nature to achieve his desired goal. Lord Rama’s bridge symbolised the importance of understanding, compassion and harmony.

Similarly, when you are proceeding to Accomplish Your Dreams, you may find a number of hurdles like Lord Rama faced. You must exercise due restraint and work with understanding, compassion and harmony with the resources available. You would get a solution definitely and can Accomplish Your Dreams.

Be Happy - Accomplish Your Dreams with due restraint and work with understanding, compassion and harmony with the resources available.

Be happy – Accomplish Your Dreams (Part 92)

Our instincts play a major role in forming our line of action. Sometime, they help us a lot to avert and enable to avoid misfortunes. We need to heed to that little voice within us. Our instincts enable us to know about things that are about to happen to us as if there is something within us that warns of impending danger. How much do we trust our instincts? Many times, we change our decision on the basis of our instincts coming out of our subconscious mind perhaps due to some past experience in our own life or some others or just an assumption if something may happen. Is following our instincts the smartest thing to do? Do they help us into trouble? Yes, sometime they do. We can examine them on the basis of logics and take action only if some viability is found there. Some risk would always be there.

Our instincts have a network of millions of nerve cells and, through them, a mind of their own. I don’t think that emotion and intuition can be separated. Imagine meeting a date who reminds you of loved ones and also of the emotions you’ve felt towards those people. Suddenly you begin to fall for that person. Intuition can be described as almost immediate situation understanding. In fact, going with your instincts is a smart move only if you know it will be a win-win situation and you can handle the emotional repercussions.

Whenever there’s something wrong about to happen in your life, your brain may send a signal to you. It is you to identify the signals. At some point, you may wonder if you should go with your instincts or not, this can be decided with your past experience. How accurate are emotional intuitions when making a decision? Intuition is best used as the first step in solving a problem or deciding what to do. The more experience you have, the more reliable your intuitions, because they arise out of the richest array of collected patterns of experience. However, your instincts are not always infallible, and at times it will let you down. Sometimes we get emotional and our instincts are found illogical at a later stage. Don’t mix up your emotions with your instincts.

Creative people are very intuitive by nature. They work with their instincts. Seldom, they have a plan and follow a system. They aim every time to create something new. At every stage, they only work within their knowledge, sensibility, talent and worldview. Those things develop creativity if there is some vacuum.

In judiciary system too, we find many judgments immediately come as a result of instincts. After sometime, we appeal that mind has not been applied in delivering some particular judgment. Your instincts say that something is beautiful, but you don’t necessarily know why. You can not explain why you feel that thing to be beautiful. Nobody can dictate your instincts. They come up themselves and sometime they can appear to be your best counsellor. Just you need to identify them in right context.

Be Happy – Accomplish Your Dreams by taking help from your instincts wherever you find them viable.
