Douglas MacArthur (American General who commanded the Southwest Pacific Theatre in World War II, 1880-1964) quotes “People grow old only by deserting their ideals, Macarthur had written. Years may wrinkle the skin, but to give up interest wrinkles the soul. You are as young as your faith, as old as your doubt; as young as your self-confidence, as old as your fear; as young as your hope as old as your despair. In the central place of every heart there is a recording chamber. So long as it receives messages of beauty, hope, cheer and courage, so long are you young. When your heart is covered with the snows of pessimism and the ice of cynicism, then, and then only, are you grown old. And then, indeed as the ballad says, you just fade away.”
Generally, we say that youth is the time of life between childhood and adulthood (maturity). We can not stick to this definition for all purposes or to define the word Youth correctly. Definitions of the specific age range that constitutes youth vary. An individual's actual maturity may not correspond to their chronological age, as immature individuals exist at all ages. It does not really matter what the number of your years add up to. The big question is how you look, feel and perform. Most would agree that the quality of life is at least as important as the length of it and that we want our "health span" to equal our "life span."
Sophia Loren (Italian film Actress, b.1934) quotes “There is a fountain of youth: it is your mind, your talents, the creativity you bring to your life and the lives of people you love. When you learn to tap this source, you will truly have defeated age.” The fountain of youth has always been a most sought-after yet illusive quest of man. Does it really exist? Yes, it does, but not in a tangible or touchable form. The fountain of youth is an attitude, a way of thinking, a mind set, and a way of life.
You could describe youth as a feeling of wonder, of vitality and freshness; the opposite of cynical and worn out. So in that case younger in age or older in age it really doesn't matter, we can be cynical and worn out at 30 years old and we can be full of wonder at 65 years old. Youth is a state of mind that can be found or lost at any age.
Each of us yearns to maintain our youthful appearance, energy and good health free from disease and sickness and now this is entirely possible. You can improve every aspect of your body inside and out - all over strength, bone mass, long and short-term memory, healing time, immune system and organ function and regain a youthful appearance.
All this can be achieved by changing your metabolism and your body chemistry through a proper program of strength training exercise.
If you want to stay young, you have to stay physically strong. A fundamental but highly changeable part of the aging process is a morphing of your body shape and body composition. After age 30 years lean muscle tissue is lost at the rate of around one half pound per year. Excess body fat accumulates and pads the areas of muscle loss changing the body composition (muscle/fat ratio) for the worst although body weight and shape may not change much.
This has a catastrophic effect on many aspects of the body's processes accelerating a downward spiral on everything from your metabolism (your body's engine) to a decline in the functioning of your immune system. It is only now becoming more widely known of the importance of realigning the metabolism for maximum longevity and youthfulness.
The only way to return the metabolism to its more youthful state is with strength training exercise. No other type of exercise will even come close to what this can achieve. Rejuvenation can be maximized by activating more adult stem cells to replace damaged ones, and changing the metabolism to restore, repair and rebuild tissues, organs, and systems at cellular level.
This is where the anti aging effect of proper exercise comes in to play along with an increase of high energy so you can perform your exercise program at a higher level of intensity to chase Father Time away even quicker.
It is better to deal with the underlying causes of aging such as muscle strength loss with exercise under yoga rather than trying to deal with each symptom by taking some type of pill or medicine. The financially driven medical establishment is organized for the purpose of treating symptoms with drugs and is does not educate people to correct their metabolic flaws to be healthier, stay young and live longer enjoyably.
It may be true that we cannot stop the aging process but we can most certainly delay, slow down or even reverse its effects. We can easily maintain a high quality of life and can increase our life expectancy by as much as 30 years.
The fountain of youth lies in the truth that nature has it all figured out and science does not yet fully understand. But the power is inside each of us to think young and therefore restore our youth all over again. You must change your attitude also to feel young. Once you go to think as you have become old, soon you may become so. You must give up your thinking that you are growing to be old. You will remain young till you think so and for materializing your such thinking, you may undertake some exercises under the supervision of some expert to remain young.
Be Happy – Keep Yourself Young.
