Be Happy – Talk Well With Anyone (Part 5)

Now-a-days, most of the business activities concentrate upon your way of presentation. That is why it is very important to you to speak with a business client. All you get is a few minutes and you have to impress them in that duration. You have to tackle this, something that seems to be a tall order, whereas the professions differ from business occupations in that they have definite codes of ethics which prescribe and limit the conduct of practitioners in the various contingencies likely to arise.

Sometime, you attend corporate presentations that simply left you cold. Or perhaps you’ve even delivered communications yourself and realized, in retrospect, that you really hadn’t got the measure of your audience and their needs. This is at best frustrating. At worst it is such a huge “turn off” that it can have a negative effect, or even produce an effect that is the exact opposite of the one you had intended.

Whether you need to communicate general day-to-day information or "big news" about major changes in your organization, the best communications start with some good planning.

The first step is to put yourself in the shoes of your audience. What do they need to know, and want to hear? What’s their preferred way of receiving information? What will stop them listening to what you have to say? And how will you know that they have got the message?

So there’s quite a bit more to good communications than preparing a good memo or presentation! This tool will help you through the preparation steps and so help you create an audience-focused communication plan that’s sure to get your message heard.

Good communication is very much like good marketing. You have a message (product) that you need to 'sell' to your customers. If they are going to 'buy it', you must package the message so that they can understand it and pay attention to it. You must make sure the value and benefit outweigh any downsides (the 'price' you are asking them to pay). And you must reach them through the right communication channels. Then, following the communications (promotion), you must be able to measure the effectiveness and how well the message is 'bought'.

How to Speak with Your Business Clients and Always Win!

It is actually easier to speak with a client than with anyone else because of the fact that the pressure is less since both of you are probably well-versed in your areas and professional people looking for something that can interest both of you, it becomes easier to have the conversation. You can hold better conversations with them. You may consider the following:

1. Remember that clients like to speak a lot about themselves. They will want to tell you what they are looking for, how their business is placed, where you come in, etc. Give them a patient ear. In fact, ask questions to keep them going. It helps you overcome your nervousness in speaking with them and you know more about them, which means you, can review the deal in your mind.

2. Your clients will ask you questions too. Answering them is a good way to open the conversation.

3. Remember that the client probably needs you as much as you need them. You may have competition, but the fact that they have even considered an interview with you means that you have as good a chance as anyone else.

4. When you are speaking with them, speak directly about the business. This is the first thing that a business client likes to hear. The small talk can wait; you can get into that if you see things are warming up.

5. Speak about what you do because that’s what you know best. It also builds your confidence. When you are done, ask them questions that you think they would like to answer.

6. Do not lose your confidence even if the meeting gets rough. Many clients return even after bad meetings. The most important thing is that you keep your chin up and keep answering and asking questions.

7. Talk money afterward. Don’t bring it initially into the picture. When you have fully understood your role in the deal, the talk about money will start.

8. Keep smiling and keep listening to the client. Many times, this is what really works in clinching the deal.

The above suggestions may help to you to deliver and exchange your business talks fruitfully.

Be Happy – Talk Well With Anyone (Part 4)

If you are called to lecture a group of people on a subject that you are supposed to be knowledgeable in, there are several things that can come in the way. One of them is the nervousness of having to speak with a crowd. So far you have been feeling yourself very confident whenever you got an opportunity of talking in a family meeting. You knew your audience very well and they knew your nature. They know when to promote you. They can divert your attention without hurting you. But when you are exposed to speak to the gathering of the persons you do not know before hand, you can get nervous. It happens with many persons.

Public speaking is the process of speaking to a group of people in a structured, deliberate manner intended to inform, influence, or entertain the listeners. But it is a nightmare for most people when it is extempore. Things can go very wrong if you aren’t prepared for delivering your views that you have been called for. You can become a laughing stock. That can be improved, just you need to keep yourself ready every time.

In public speaking, we usually find five basic elements:

1. Who is saying?
2. What?
3. To whom ?
4. Using what medium?
5. With what effects?

The purpose of public speaking can range from simply transmitting information, to motivating people to act, to simply telling a story. Good orators change the emotions of their listeners to deliver their message. Public speaking embraces motivational speaking, leadership/personal development, business, customer service, large group communication, and mass communication. It can be a powerful tool to use for purposes such as exerting influence, persuasion, informing, translation, or simply entertaining.

You would be surprised to know that a lot of eminent public speakers still mention about their stage-fright. We are social animals, but when it comes to facing a crowd in a commanding manner, many of us falter. We may take care as follow:

1. The first thing you must do is practice. You must go through the topic you are going to speak about several times over. If you are called to speak on something extempore, this can’t be done, but let us assume you have a notice, however short it is. Rehearse the speech in your mind.

2. While rehearsing, you must actually mentally place yourself on the stage. Don’t think about the empty walls that surround you right now, think about the several eager ears that will be sitting in front of you. This puts new pep into your practicing and actually motivates you to practice more.

3. The first sentence is your ice-breaker here. If you deliver it well, the rest of the speech usually becomes a breeze. Make sure you practice it the most.

4. Now, keep one thing in mind. Your audience is very much interested in hearing what you have to say. They aren’t going to heckle you. In fact, they will encourage you by giving applause or a laugh at the right moment. Understand that your audience is with you – they are probably considering you are superior to them because you are the one talking.

5. Always keep a few great jokes ready, especially to tell them at the start. When you see your audience laughing at what you say, you feel more relaxed. The nervousness tides away.

6. Focus on what you are trying to say, not on your words. This is extremely important. It is all right if you slur some words or if some words come out of your mouth ungrammatically. What’s important is that your message should be conveyed.

7. If you make a mistake or if you have a slip-up, there is no need to be apologetic. Your audience is human; they understand such things. In most cases, people don’t even notice small speech errors.

8. Keep practicing. Don’t let any opportunity to speak to a crowd pass you by. When you speak more, you are able to deliver better.

9. Think of yourself as important and you will be able to do a lot better. For that, you will need confidence; you will need to know your self-worth. Confidence is of paramount importance. In fact, there is no reason why you shouldn’t be confident. When you are speaking to some people, those people are seeking to understand something and they feel that you are the one with the knowledge. Automatically, you are at a more superior pedestal than they are. They trust in you already, to an extent.

10. You should make your stepping over the stage with flair. The audience should know that an important personality, not just another ordinary man, is about to deliver his views, has entered. Dress well and carry yourself with grace. A good stepping marks the beginning of a good speech.

11. Don’t just bombard them with your name. It is a better idea to tell them what you are going to tell them on, give them a few lines of what they should expect to be doing during your speech and then give your name.

12. Speaking of interaction, keep your speech interactive. You will find that you can communicate to a much greater degree that way. Ask them simple things, like their opinion on a particular point, what they would have done if they were in place of the subject and so on. Make them think, make them ponder. That keeps them away from judging you. It keeps them engrossed.

13. Be thorough with what you will be speaking out. You should know your subject inside-out, especially if you are going to allow them to ask questions at the end.

14. It is all right to take pauses in the course of your speaking. In fact, that’s one advantage of keeping your talking interactive. During the short intervals you give them to think, you can take a moment to gather yourself.

15. You may close with confidence too. Summarize all the points of your speech, because your audience will be more alert toward the end than they were during it, and sign off with a smile.

Since public speaking gains a lot, I hope that you will take it more seriously.

Be Happy – Talk Well With Anyone (Part 3)

We all understand that whenever we attend a job interview, that opportunity can be a life-changing experience in many situations. It is no wonder that more than half the people are scared to death about facing interviews. I have seen personally how many times I got myself nervous when I attended interviews for job and how I handled the situations. While sitting on the interview boards, I also observed many candidates not able to reply appropriately although they were otherwise well qualified. The reason was that they were not able to talk well on such occasions.

Approaching Your Interview

So you got that all-important call for the job interview that you were rooting for. Now, everything depends on how the interview goes. There is enough to put pressure upon your shoulders. But do you think you are going to nail that interview if you go with all that pressure?

You must approach your job interviews with care. You have to show them that you know your stuff, but at the same time you must not come across as impatient. You have to walk a fine line here – not seem insolent but at the same time you must not seem submissive either. The impression you generate during your job interview stays with you throughout your career life.

It can sometimes be difficult to know what type of conversation is appropriate during an interview, especially when you are applying for your job. You must prepare some thoughts ahead of time in order to use the correct conversation etiquette during a job interview and remember to answer all questions honestly. You need to have summary of your accomplishments and information about the company before hand. Prepare yourself for various conversation points before you arrive at your job interview. Jot down some notes about your recent accomplishments, past work experience and career objectives. Research the company so you can feel comfortable discussing aspects of the company history, for example.

Thereafter, you must dress up yourself appropriately and may consider the following points:

  1. Tell yourself that you have got this interview. Let it seem real to you. Now, you have to become practical about it. You should not let this chance pass you by.
  2. Repeat this several times – “They called me because they found something good in my résumé”. This will help boost your confidence like nothing else can. You will realize that there’s some quality about you that they liked. You must go through your resume and note down what are the positive qualities you have.
  3. The day you go for the interview, don’t work yourself too much. Dress subtly, and do some breathing exercises like Yoga before entering the interviewing hall. It will help you.
  4. Be attentive and await for the call carefully. As soon as you are called in to attend the interview, you must proceed on, enter in and note that there is no unusual noise in your stepping in and closing the door if required.
  5. Await for the offer of the chair. As you get nod to take the chair, be seated and thank. Introduce yourself to the board with a firm handshake if within reach. If not, make good eye contact which shows them you aren’t nervous.
  6. Leave chewing gum, hard candy and all other foods at home when you arrive at your interview. Your interviewer will not be able to understand you if your mouth is full and it may come across as a measure of disrespect. If your interviewer offers you a beverage, you may accept and take small sips when you are not speaking.
  7. You must have already researched on what they ask during interviews. Prepare your pitch well. The advantage here is that you don’t have to break the ice, because they will speak with you first. They may ask you to walk them through your résumé. You should have this ready. Focus on the positive points and make sure that they hear them, but don’t dwell on a particular area too much.
  8. You must use proper conversation etiquette during your interview by answering questions fully and honestly, without sounding self serving or like you are boasting about your accomplishments. Try to find a balance that shows your self confidence but in a humble way.
  9. Smile as you speak and use a positive tone of voice during your interview. Refrain from using sarcasm or critical language about anyone with whom you have previously worked. Conversation etiquette during an interview calls for being polite at all times.
  10. Avoid using slang terms in your conversations during your job interview. It is not unusual for young people who are applying for their first jobs to make the mistake of appearing too casual in their language. If you feel this may be difficult for you, practice using more formal terms at home before the interview. Speak at a volume that is comfortable for you and allows your interviewer to hear you without straining. Avoid talking very loudly, but if you are asked to speak a little louder, grant the request with a smile.
  11. You should ask questions about the position for which you are applying and the work environment. This type of conversation is useful because it shows the employer you are truly interested in the job and what it entails.
  12. Do not discuss your personal life or ask about the personal lives of your interviewers. It is illegal for a prospective employer to ask you personal questions in a job interview. If you are asked such a question in an interview, politely respond that you are not comfortable discussing the subject in an interview.
  13. If there is something quirky about your résumé, they will definitely ask you about that. Keep a reply ready. You must know that it is the most fruitful if you could be honest in your replies.
  14. They may ask you your opinion on something. This is the clinching point actually. Make sure you say something creative. Don’t hold back, and don’t cross any lines. Remember that this question might come out of the blue, when you think everything has relaxed. Be prepared for such assaults.
  15. They may also ask you your strengths and weaknesses. Again, be upfront and honest. Don’t overemphasize your plus points. Don’t dwell too much on your weaknesses. Act as though they are quite commonplace, everyone has them.
You have done your best. Now, wait for them to decide whether they can take you. If the call doesn’t come, you can at least seek solace in the fact that you did not make a mistake.

Be Happy – Talk Well With Anyone (Part 2)

Sometime, we need to lead our life in a very formal way. But every time it does not seem to be convenient. Our heart and mind both compel us to be informal too, relaxing all kinds of formal systems which appear to be burdensome. To make yourself light, you are required to break the ice more often whenever you see that your relationship with someone is not getting through smoothly. We are to start our talks somehow and to talk well with confidence.

How would you start talk if you are young one? You may like to ask for a date from him or her. It
is considered to be a very difficult thing to do, asking someone for a date probably because there are just two definite answers here – “yes” and “no”. People think approaching someone for a date is a very difficult task. However, if you go about it the right way, you will at least be able to open the conversation and know if it is a “yes” and “ no”.

Here are the steps you can use to go about it.
  1. Be confident. Think how you will open up the conversation. If the boy or girl you are approaching has some common link with you, you could have something to talk about in that context. Otherwise, you could speak about the situation in which you find each other. Like, if you see him or her sitting at the food plaza in a mall and eating alone, you could walk up to him or her and ask, “Hello, could I join you? I have seen you eating alone here often.” Yes, being honest works here. If you have seen them, you have seen them.
  2. Always keep taking the hints. If they like you, it will be an immediate “yes”. A reluctant “yes” will mean that you have to work on it. A “no” means you have to move elsewhere.
  3. If you are sitting with them, keep foraging for topics to talk about. Don’t worry; the communication lines are open now. You now have to observe the hints. If they like something, talk about it. Don’t downgrade it right away. That could mean a polite excuse and the end of the conversation.
  4. Plan in advance where you will ask them if the situation for a date seems to form itself. Ask them casually. Ask them, “Have you been to China Joe? I hear that’s a good Chinese place to eat.” If they say they haven’t, ask them if they are interested in Chinese food. Basically, get to know them. Chances are, if they like you they will say “yes” to accompany you even if they don’t like Chinese.
  5. Start small. Don’t plan an elaborate date right from the start. They will be more at peace to accompany you at a fast food outlet first than at a seven course buffet restaurant. Also, for the first date choose a place where you can get some privacy but not too much privacy. That might scare them.
Most importantly, stay confident. It isn’t going to be the end of the world if they say “no”. If at any point in the conversation they refuse, don’t be depressed. It is their loss, not yours! Tell yourself that and move on!

Next time, we may have some other topic on the same subject. Till then, have a good day!

Be Happy – Talk Well With Anyone (Part 1)

On 10th September this year, I had made some submissions about how to communicate your statements, your intentions and your plans. Effective communication means your work is half done; the rest depends upon your follow-up. In this process, you need not to concentrate upon yourself only but have to see the reaction over the target audience as well. There are many dimensions to the communications. I may have a look upon them here.

In communicating, we involve public speaking which isn’t something that everyone is used to. Some of us become jittery and break into a cold sweat even at the prospect of speaking to a handful of people. Why a group, some of us stammer and become nervous even when they have to speak to an unfamiliar person on a one-on-one basis. But it is not difficult.

If you are the type of the person that sits alone at a party with a hundred people just because you don’t know anyone there, you definitely need to improve your skills of communication. Communication is the key to anything – making friendships, striking business contracts, impressing people and even getting yourself a life partner. You cannot do any of these without talking with someone.

But if talking with someone unfamiliar is something that scares the heebie-jeebies out of you, you need a quick sizing up. Probably something is seriously wrong there. Talking is actually one of the natural things that we do – it is as natural as breathing for most of us – so what’s holding you back.

Is it Your lack of Confidence?

You are in the gathering of about 50 persons and you do not know anyone amongst them. What will you do? You may go to one corner and stand alone. No, it is not etiquette. You must get acquainted with some one. How would you get acquainted? You may think if anyone of them has ever met you. No, you can start to give your own introduction. Try and Try again – someone may still not like. You may carry on.

In this process, the first thing you need confidence. Here, confidence basically means that you should have some knowledge of your self-worth. You should know that you amount to something and that is what you need to project when you are trying to open a conversation with someone. It is only when they understand that listening to you will mean something to them will they take the time. However, your confidence will only show when you are really happy with your self-worth. Hence, this is more about a self-evolvement thing than personality development.

Be Considerate.

I would say this is what gives the power to keep any conversation going. What does being considerate mean in this context? It simply means this – You have to be as much aware of the other person as you are about yourself. If you get a break at a conversation with someone, it does not mean that you will just go on rambling about yourself. Give an equal opportunity to the other to speak. Listen to what they say. Ask about them. Make them feel important in the talk too.

Be Diverse.

You may start with a single topic, but if you want to keep a conversation going on, it is best to be diverse. Once you know what the person likes, you could continue talking about that subject. But it would be foolish to talk about Hollywood thrillers to a person who hasn’t ever watched a movie, wouldn’t it? You must make an effort to keep broadening your vistas of knowledge all the time. Remember that the more you know the more will you be able to talk.

A conversation commits partial suicide when you forget an important detail about someone. It would be ridiculous if you have been speaking with someone for fifteen minutes and you have already forgotten their name which they mentioned. On the other hand, if you speak specifically to someone about something that pertains to them, you will almost always get a good reply. A good memory is vital to good conversation.

One of the terms that we use very often in our colloquial talk is ‘breaking the ice’. If there is really a good girl in college or a handsome hunk and you manage to get a few words out of her or him for the first time, you say you have broken the ice with them. If there is someone superior to you at work and you have always been aloof and then suddenly you get them to talk with you, you say that you have broken the ice. So, does breaking the ice just mean getting on communicating terms with someone new? Or is there more to it than we generally imply?

Breaking the ice means getting the person interested in you. It is not just about getting them to use their vocal cords; it is about getting them interested in you at least to a little extent so that they feel it worthwhile to say something in response. When you have broken the ice with someone, they most usually speak something in response to what you are saying. This means that what you told them has held their interest.

When ice is ice, it is solid. It is stubborn and hard. But when you break it, it becomes pliable at once. It becomes fluid and starts moving. It doesn’t take it long to become warm water. But as long as it is ice, it will continue to be hard. So, when you break the ice with someone, you are actually turning someone who is cold toward you into a warm, responsive person.

In other words, breaking the ice is the beginning step to any conversation. But you have to take the initiative here. Don’t assume everyone to be frank and friendly and free-spirited. For most people, you will have to break the ice. This may be the route to a potential friendship or business collaboration or maybe even a relationship. Think about it.

Be Happy – Enhance Your Income By Effective Selling. (Part 3)

For enhancing your income, you need to switch over from the employees’ section if you are working somewhere against some salary based on time, add business if you can afford to remain employee and work part-time for the business, do business or render professional services if you are doing it independently, you may have to increase your network of the customers/clients. Now business online is getting popular as it is growing to be difficult for the consumer to approach the suppliers/ manufacturers personally due to shortage of time. You can work over that also.

For marketing online, you need to build lists of the contacts. More contacts mean more prospective clients/customers. For enhancing the contacts, you can set up a blog and give people away an e-Book or a subscription to a newsletter for free. In return, you may ask people for their email ids. This will become your list which you can start tapping. You may send emails to this list about your products and state your offers if you have any. When people are convinced about the quality of your product, they are very likely to make purchases from you.

Give people things free. But don’t do it without maintaining records of whom you have given things to. That would break the communication forever. Even if they want to get back to you, they might not have bookmarked your site and will not know where to find you. So, remind people to bookmark your site, use RSS feeds using Digg and StumbleUpon, etc. so that they know where you are. Most importantly, keep them on your list and keep promoting your stuff to them.

Continue to hold your customers’ Interest.

You need to do that in order to sway even the diehard customers over to your business. For some, a single sales pitch just will not seem to work.

This is actually where your actual sales expertise comes into play. Making a list of the benefits is actually one of the most common things to do. Everyone who makes a sales pitch for their product will do that. But what you have to see is how you can make it special so that your people can not resist purchasing it. One of the best ways to do that is to focus on how you and your product are better than the competition.

Keep the Interest Factor Alive.

Be sure that very few people will buy from you at the very first go. It becomes highly imperative for you to keep them hooked. Efforts’ conversions into sales will happen but they will be very low. In the offline world, it is much more likely that you have guaranteed purchases when people walk into the store, but even so when it comes to expensive things the rate of conversion is low.
So, what must you do to clinch the deal in such cases? The one most important thing you must do is to keep the interest factor alive. If you start building a list and trying to get it convert into sales, you may succeed. These people might purchase, but they want that push to do so. When you have them on the list, you could keep promoting to them through emails and newsletters. Remember that you shouldn’t send them such material without their opt-in permission because if you do so, you become a spammer, and there’s no dirtier tag than that when you are trying to something on the Internet.

But send them quality material. Send them stuff that will really interest them. Research on what drives this particular niche. They might want to know more about how-to stuff, DIY stuff, or maybe some tips and figures interest them. Whatever it is they want to know, keep giving them such stuff at regular intervals.

The idea is to keep them hooked on. These people may have become interested in what you are trying to sell when they first visited you, but now they might be losing interest. When one of your meaningful emails comes into their inbox, their dwindling interest gets a shot in the arm. If things are going too long, you might even consider inviting them to download another eBook or sign up for another newsletter subscription for free. It works.

Probably you could get another marketer to giveaway things with you. Such collaboration works in mutual interest. People who are selling offline could also do this by announcing offers and informing people through snail-mail. But the Internet tops when you are doing such recurrent marketing.

What You Can Sell and What You Cannot.

Yes, you can sell anything to anyone, or let us make that ‘most things’. There are some things that you cannot and shouldn’t sell. You can sell anything to anyone. There are some things that you shouldn’t sell. But, even then this works for you, because when you know what these things are, you anyway won’t sell them. These things can be:

Illegal Stuff

Our governments have demarcated the legal things and illegal things. We live in this society and want to prosper and become rich in it, so it is most important that you don’t sell any illegal stuff. In fact, people who sell illegal stuff are stupid. They take risks without reason. You can make a much higher profit selling legal stuff because there are more buyers who will be ready to buy it. You can market much more openly. Your prospects can increase thousand-fold. The profits in rightfully operated legal businesses are much more than those made through illegal ones.

Plagiarized Stuff

Don’t sell anything that belongs to someone else. There’s the human factor that you need to consider first. Someone probably spent blood, sweat, tears and money in developing that product. Passing it off in your name is downright unethical. And it can backfire seriously. People who have come researching for your product probably know of the other products that exist in the market too, especially if they have been looking online. One look at your product and they will know that it is infringed. Your credibility takes a serious knockout.

Failed or expired Stuff

Whatever it takes, don’t rehash failed products and sell them as new. People see through that easily. They will associate your name with the failed products and that will not bode well for your popularity too.

Gain Perfection in the Art of Salesmanship

Perfection comes through experience. No one can call themselves a perfect salesperson because there are always people who won’t buy your product, despite your best efforts. There are many things that come into play here, and you need not take your failures in this field personally – it’s not always about your product or about yourself – but you can definitely keep improving your sales skills.

That improvement comes through practice. The more you try to sell things, the more you learn. You learn what works and what doesn’t. You learn what type of customer you can sell to and what type you can’t. You learn who will keep buying from you and who will just be a drifter. You learn what you must open your dialog with to make the maximum impact on someone who visits you.

These things are learnt through practice. Here, it is very important not to let failures bog you down. If you couldn’t sell something to someone, try a different approach. Maybe when you fail in a sale you can clearly see where you erred. Or maybe you won’t. But the point is to keep on with your efforts.

You may note down these points:-
  • There is no guarantee that a person will buy from you, regardless of the efforts you put into making the sale. However, you can always increase the chances of them buying your product. You can do this by making your product more attractive for them.
  • Remember that your product won’t be there for ever, whatever it is. That is the reason you need to keep improving it by bringing new versions, updates and stuff.
  • Every failed sale teaches you something. With this education, you can make better sales.
  • Always keep a lookout on how other people are marketing their stuff. In fact, buy from them. See what convince people to buy from them.
  • Keep improving. Keep evolving. You will be a better salesperson tomorrow than you are today just because you kept trying.
Selling isn’t difficult in the first instance. Your expertise is there how to continue. You only need to know what ticks. Experience teaches you that wonderfully. Selling is an art. And like other arts, it may not come naturally to people. But there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be an expert in sales. You can enhance your income by effective sales.

Be Happy – Enhance Your Income By Effective Selling. (Part 2)

In my last post, I had made some submissions how to enhance your income by effective selling of your products/services. Unless you concentrate over the sales of your products/services and try to increase them, you won’t be able to enhance your income. You may perhaps go into red and deep red if you neglect this particular part of your activities. Let us try some more steps in this direction.

Making Yourself Important.

You are sure that your product is useful, but why should your target customers/clients buy from you? Why are you better than the competitors? You have to inform your customers that. You have to tell them why you and your product are better for them than what the competitive market is selling. If you do it, you may assume that you have started on this already.

You are stamping your specialty at that point itself. But now you have to put that more in your customers’ faces. Make them see what’s so special about you. Speak of your special expertise in the area. Speak why you are better than the others – maybe it is the creativeness of your product or an added feature that makes it unique or maybe even your better support system.

Be as transparent to your public as you can be. In the baby boomer generation, it was all right if companies kept everything about themselves secret. People still bought and, in fact, in those days, the more enigmatic a product was, the better it was – this was the general feeling among the public. Use forums and blogs to sell yourself. If you don’t have a blog yet, make one using Blogger. People can then interact with you. They understand you are for real and that you have answers to their apprehensions. They get more convinced about you as a person. They don’t mind buying from you.

The best thing is that this helps you to come above your competition. In today’s day and age, this is the most important thing you can do to enhance your products’ selling prospects.

Creating need of your products/services.

Make people understand that this is so great an offer that it will not persist for long. Ask them to act fast. Give them a limited time discounted offer or something. This sense of urgency brings in better sales. You will have to create a sense of urgency in the minds of your target consumers.

If you have seen any sales pitches lately – any at all – you will have come across this doomsday mentality that they create. A great ad for a great product for a great price will end with “This offer is only for 3 days. Rush!” The smiling blonde on Home TV will demonstrate a product that you absolutely want for your house and then say, “These prices are only till the next full moon” or something like that. Even the nerdy geek who puts his picture on the sales page creates an Armageddon scenario by stating that his prices have been dropped from $127 to $27 only for the next 24 hours. The truth is probably that his product was never anywhere above $27.

But when you tell people that they are getting a bargain, they are always interested, even if the price after the bargain is more than the original price of the product elsewhere. Humans are sticklers for bagging steals and it panders our ego to understand that we have got a bargain.

What really improves a bargain situation is the sense of urgency. The feeling of get-your-credit-card-right-out-of-your-wallet-and-buy-this-schmuck is what gets them every time. Of course, when you know there’s just 36 minutes to buy something at half price, you will probably buy it. Even if that thing isn’t useful to you right now, you will justify yourself by saying, “If I have to buy this tomorrow, I will have to pay a lot more.” Chances are that you will buy that thing and it will keep gathering dust till the real Doomsday happens!

But there’s no reason why you shouldn’t use this gimmick as well, considering that even the big name malls and supermarkets are putting ads for their hourly discounted sales. If you promote your offers well, you will get a good number of buyers. However, there are a few rules:-
  • Your product needs to be good.
  • The bargain has to be attractive. If you just knock 50 cents off your price, it isn’t going to mean anything.
  • The time you give them should be short, even if they have a few days on hand, they will procrastinate.
  • At the same time, the time shouldn’t be so short that they think your offer is a scam. Remember people have become much more discerning now.
Giving Gifts

If you give away free gifts, it might set you back momentarily. But it can be a great thing for you in the long run, ensuring continued sales. Give and you shall receive. There’s no greater truth than that when it comes to salesmanship either!
When you give away things for free through your sales page or wherever you are promoting your stuff from, you are doing several things that directly benefit your prospecting game.
  1. You are giving people a sampling of your quality. If your gift is really good, people somehow think that the real thing will be good too.
  2. You begin a channel of communication with your people. Because you have given them something for free, the ice is already broken. You could now start making these people interested in other things.
  3. You stamp your credibility. People understand that you really have some products that are probably made well too.
  4. But the most important thing is that you are sending them on an emotional trip. Giving something away is as good as telling them, “You took something from me for free. Now, it is your turn to pay back by actually buying something.” If the person was thinking about who to buy a particular thing from, they will think about buying it from you just because you gave them something for free earlier.
Stand committed to your clients/customers.

Make your clients/customers understand that you will be there for them even after you have sold the product/services in case there is any need/query/problem etc. This will ensure them a guarantee.

People who want to buy from you want to make sure that you will be there for them. They want to see your commitment. No one likes fly-by purchases in which they buy something and then lose all contact with the seller. This might work if you are selling something for a dollar, but for most things that people buy today, they want to see the seller remain involved even after the sale has been done.

There is reason for that. They want to make sure that if anything goes wrong with the product, there is some remedy for that. Only the seller can ensure such a remedy. That is the reason people are promising so many money-back guarantees. Take a look at a sales page and you will find that there is almost always a money-back guarantee. Sometimes these guarantees extend to up to 90 days. This is the period in which customers are free to buy the product, use it and check whether they will work for them or not.

You must also provide a good money-back guarantee. It should be of an ample time so that people are convinced that could nicely check the product and return it if they are not satisfied with it.

Most likely, they will never return your product. People are already very discerning when they buy and if you make everything quite clear on your sales page, they will know exactly what to expect. Be honest there, and you will have no returns of your sold products.

But what people want more than the money-back guarantee is a support system that continues after the product has been purchased. Most people are not technical-minded and if your product requires the customer to use some kind of technical knowledge, you must be there to guide them. You have to promise your unstinting support even after the purchase is done.

Be honest and upfront about these promises and deliver them. This ensures long term selling prospects for your business.

We may further discuss how to enhance the income further in the next posts.

Be Happy – Enhance Your Income By Effective Selling (Part 1)

Getting into any business requires you to do one thing – sell something. It’s not just about businesses though; even if you are just working for an employee, you are selling our talent and your skills.

The best profits come in when you are able to sell things in the right way and you are able to fetch the consideration more than what you invested for bringing about that product or services.

I may suggest to you that if you are trying to sell anything to anyone, you can streamline the whole process into just seven important requirements. If you use them in the right amount and at the right time, you are certain to sell anything to anyone, probably even a refrigerator to an Eskimo!

1 – Making the Right Background.

Setting up for the sale is the most important. If you are able to pep your potential customer up to their maximum, they will not be able to wait till they buy from you. Sell Yourself, Use a Great Story. Everyone loves stories. Only, adults love stories that have emotions and ring true. Use them to become a master salesperson.

It is a highly competitive world we live in, and we can say that again without sounding clichéd. Even as you are creating your sales page, you are at a loss to decide what to put on this page so that it does not look as though it is merely ripped off from your competitors. You are always on the lookout to find something special to put on your sales page that will make the people sit up and take notice of it.

Now, what better can work for that than a great story? If you could weave in a story of how you came up with the product or how you started the business, it could add great human factor to the sales page.

Do not think that you do not have a story. Everyone has. You just have to dig it out. Was there some impediment in coming up with this product? Probably you almost never made it. That is a story. Or maybe you got a single jolt of inspiration that suddenly put the idea of building this product and getting into this business in your head. That is another great idea for a story. Or you could tell – and this would be to your great advantage – how your product made a big difference to someone, maybe even changing their lives for the better. Maybe you could even get a testimonial from them with their picture and signature and put it up on the sales page. Such things do work wonderfully; there is no question about that.

Testimonials are also stories. They are stories of how other people used your product and what happened when they did that. The major plus point about testimonials is that they are said by someone else and hence they strike a better chord with the readers. In any case, stories work, whether they are your own or your users’ testimonials.

But remember that the language of the story is very important. A good story written in a bad language does not appeal to anyone. You can make efforts yourself or seek some assistance from some professional writers. In the media world they would say, “This is what really sells!”

2 – Making Your Product is Important for the target people.

People will not buy things that are not important to them. So, you need to harp on your product’s utility. Go all over town telling how undeniably useful your product is, and a lot more people will be interested in it.

People will not purchase things on a whim. Everyone has become quite conscious about money, especially because of the recent economic problems that the world has seen. But it is still a good time to start business. People have money, but they are only more cautious about spending it. The frivolous spending habits of people that we saw about three years ago have toned down miserably. But people are people, they will start spending frivolously again, but until then you have to make them see why they should buy something from you.

You can do this by making people understand why they should buy your product, and that becomes your second requirement of making successful sales.

Whatever your sales pitch is – the sales page, a television commercial, a magazine or a newspaper advertisement – the focus should be on what the product can do for the people. You have to tell them what benefits they can get out of them and the more succinct you are about them, the better it will be. Let people know what their money will give them.

When people are convinced that they are spending their money on something useful, they will not mind spending the money. It should be something that spells real utility to them.

You must know that people do not see things that you do not tell them. Now, you might be selling a steam iron, but until and unless you actually outline the advantages of getting a steam iron, people will not think of buying. People will not buy it just because it exists. However, if you could make a bulleted list of its benefits and advertise that on your sales page or even in the mall where it is sold, you will find people buying it. You can actually hear people saying things like, “Jane, this seems to be a good thing. See, I will not have to bend when I iron clothes at home.” “Yes, Karla, and it does not require much power too.” People talk themselves into buying things when the benefits of it are outlined. They almost convince themselves to make the purchase.

Similarly, some more suggestions to enhance your income by effective selling are in my next post.

Be Happy – You Can Enhance Your Income By Share Trading (Part 4)

When you go in for trading in shares and securities, you may have an opportunity to take up day trading. Keep care that day trading is a very controversial endeavor to take on in the stock market industry these days. Many people end up losing so much of their finances through this high-risks trade. And the most common mistake why these people garner such bad results is because they often do not think of the risks involved and only concentrate on making easy money.

What anyone must be familiar with in order to survive this high-stakes industry are the things to look out for. Here are a few things that you need to know about day trading that could help you in making the right decisions about your investments.

You May Lose A Lot Of Money.

The very first thing that you need to know about day trading is that you must be prepared to suffer from substantial financial losses. And take in mind that this is not a rare thing to happen among day traders, in fact, a lot of these people, do not even get the chance to earn profit at all.

Therefore if you have limited resources and a have very little experience in making investments or trades, then day trading is certainly not advisable for you. Make sure that you never gamble with money that you cannot afford to lose, such as your budget for daily expenses, mortgages, retirements and so on.

Watch Out For Claims Of Large Profits.

One of the main reasons why a lot of people also get scammed in relation to day trading is because of their gullibility towards catchy promises that offer them large profits –most commonly from the Internet. Be wary of any advertisements or claims that try to convince you on how this certain trade can potentially make your rich in a short amount of time.

Also take in mind that most large and successful companies did not make it to the top by taking shortcuts. Most of those who have earned big money through the stock exchange have actually taken more traditional routes in their tactics.

You Need To Be Knowledgeable.

Not only does day trading require you to be a wise decision-maker, but most importantly, it also requires you to have a good background on security markets and trading strategies.

To be able to become successful in this endeavor, you have to compete with professional and licensed traders who might have been doing this for a very long time already. Make sure that you invest on your own experience before you attempt on playing this risky game.

You Need To Check With Your Securities Regulator.

If you really are decided on taking part in day trading, one of the most important precautions that you can at least take is to check with your state securities regulator about day trading firms. After all, just like any broker-dealers, such firms must be legally registered with the SEC in order to do business.

At least, through this way, you would be able to determine that the parties you are doing business with are actually legitimate and mostly likely would not scam you.

In conclusion, day trading is a very exploratory strategy. And so, anyone who may not have enough experience and knowledge about the stocks game should not try to gamble without properly preparing him or herself.

This strategy should only be employed by individuals who are sophisticated, well financed and experienced enough to manage complications and bear risks in case the worst-case scenario. And so, if you are thinking about betting on the day trade, make sure that you prepare yourself to be smart in your decisions.

Improving Your Chances In Stock Trading

Trading in the stock exchange is not a simple matter. It can be very challenging and may require a lot of time, knowledge, skills, and patience. If you do not practice trading in a smart and strategic manner, you will surely end up losing more than what you have bargained for.

Here are some major things that you must do in order to improve your chances in successful stock trading. Let us discuss what these things are and how they can help you in smart trading.

Trade With Money That You Can Manage To Lose

Stock trading can be quite a gamble. Your chances of earning can just about equal to your chances of losing, and in some cases, there are even greater risks of losing more. Money that you will need for survival should never be used in trades.

Because most trading markets can be very unpredictable, make sure that you make use of money that you can afford to lose. It may be too risky to invest money that you will badly need for your daily living or for your future. Always take note of the risks involved and what you are particularly risking in the exchange.

Always Trade In Reasonable Sizes.

Some markets in the exchange are able to allow individuals to trade very large amounts of leverage. And so, a lot of people trade in large quantities in order to assure larger profits. However, doing this may also open up the possibility of losing money in such large quantities as well.

It is always wiser to scale your trades in order to lessen risks. Never trade sizes that can wipe you out of all your money. And you would have nothing to lose if you actually start small, and grow your transactions from there.

Identify Market States Before Trading.

It is also very vital that you are aware of how the market is doing before you start trading. Take time to find out if trends are going up or down. If the you know whether the market trends are weak or strong then it may become easier for you to make the right decisions in your transactions.

By getting a good picture of the situations in the market, you can easily lay down a plan for conducting a successful trade. Things would become easier for you to foresee what must be done when you have a good idea on what may happen. In this way, you may prevent making a lot of wrong choices.

Set A Time Frame For Trading.

Even if the main goal of trading in the market is to merely make a lot of money, planning beforehand when you would like to get out of the game can save you from a lot of risks.

The trading industry is consistently moving, and through the transition of time, prices may evolve. Because of this, there can also be a growing exit price. Although it may be impossible to absolutely determine when you would exactly quit the market, it could be helpful if you at least place your trade in perspective and find out when you would best collect the exit price. Doing this contributes to liquidity in the movements of the market.

Anyone who will lead you to believe that it is easy and it is always a sure thing to make money in stock trading is being untruthful. Remember that this particular market, by nature, is a volatile and consistently moving industry. And so, you must be aware of the different trends as well as formulate a good and strong strategy to weather whatever obstacles may come.

In order to make a successful trade, you must take into account the technical as well as fundamental factors in order to make good and informed decisions. Make sure that you use your knowledge and skills in determining a strategic plan to go about your trades. Achieving success in this industry is not as easy as it may seem, but with a little hard work, you may just get great results.

Be Happy – You Can Enhance Your Income By Stock Trading (Part 2)

If you feel interested to enter into stock trading for enhancing your income, the Foreign Exchange is the largest market today for you.It is continually growing with more and more people investing in it. However, as promising as this market may be when it comes to profit, like any other trade it can be very volatile as well.

Before entering into, you must be familiar with certain factors that influence trends in the Foreign Exchange market, usually addressed to as Forex market. After all, acquainting yourself with the many scenarios that can cause currencies to go up or down can help you a lot in making decisions for when to buy or sell.

There are basically three major factors that affect the Foreign Exchange –a country’s economy, political conditions and market psychology.

Economy

Economic factors are the most basic things that create changes in a country’s currency. When such economic conditions as a budget deficit or surplus is present within a country, there will surely be reactions in the market and values will be reflected on currencies. Other conditions may also include inflation trends, and the general economic growth of the country.

The more prosperous a country’s economy is, the more investors will be able to adhere to doing trade in a more positive attitude. Such indicators as a growth in a nation’s gross domestic product (GDP), employment levels and retail sales among others will basically attract more investors and that nation’s currency value will likely go up.

Political Conditions

Another very important factor that influence trends in Forex, are the conditions of a country’s political sector. This is because political instability or turmoil can generally create negative fluctuations to an economy. But if such instances occur wherein a country may rise above political obstacles, the opposite may occur and the economy may improve.

Events in a region can surely create negative or positive interest among investors for a nation’s currency. And so, such conditions surely influence the trends for demands and prices of a certain currency.

Market Psychology

Of course, the perception of traders and investors will greatly influence the Foreign Exchange market in so many ways. After all, the market is highly dependent on whether or not people would want to invest on a country’s economy in order to determine whether currency prices will go up or down.

For example, such conditions wherein unsettling international events may happen, then under the “flight of quality” rule, people would generally want to look for a safe haven for their investments. Whenever there is a greater demand for a certain country’s economy, then a higher price will be given to buyers and the currency’s value will go up and become stronger.

Other events that contribute to traders’ perceptions may be long-term trends where people invest based on what they have seen for a long period and time, and even economic numbers where people may base their investments depending on what numbers show a greater value.

The market in Foreign Exchange is often unpredictable and fluctuating. Therefore if you are interested in doing trades in this market, make sure that you take the time to be knowledgeable about good strategies that can help you play the game.

But more importantly, keep in updating yourself with the different economic trends in the international scene. After all, this currency market would greatly revolve upon events that would occur in the different countries. Familiarizing yourself with the factors that affect the Forex will surely help you make better decisions. Keep yourself abreast of all the developments minutely and take appropriate decisions for investment and disposal.

Ayodhya Judgment

It is a long time we had awaited for the judgment and finally, that came. Instead of going to SC for further litigation, it would be better if this judgment is accepted by all the parties as final to ensure better growth. Here, Muslims have greater role to play if they do not opt to go to SC and gift the 1/3rd share for building up the temple there. This action on their part will definitely help to bring in light their image as peace-loving community in reconciliatory mode.
If they extend such spirits even at Varanasi and Mathura where their mosques are close to the Hindus' worship places, they may perhaps get a lot definitely on global scale in exchange of their gifts. They will emerge as true saviors of the humanity and it will be a true worship to God.

Be Happy – You Can Enhance Your Income By Stock Trading (Part 1)

In the stock trading world over, many people have garnered a lot of money from futures markets. It is only in this arena where people who have limited capitals can actually make substantial profits even in a short period of time. But because like any other market, this involves a lot of risks and may cost you significant losses. That is why people may often fear to get involved.

Despite its bad reputation however, many experts would claim that futures trading could only be as risky as you want to make it. And if you take on good strategies and give yourself the proper exposure, this can make you very rich.

What Are Futures?

Futures are standardized and transferable contracts that require a buyer to purchase a stock at a specific sum and within a certain time period in the future. This contract gives the buyer the obligation of purchase, and the seller the obligation to deliver the specific asset traded., futures contracts obligate the traders to buy and sell instead of just merely giving them the right whereas in options, it does not happen so.

People basically profit from futures by performing speculations in order to provide liquidity and to assume risks for price fluctuations in the market. These valuable functions provide them with substantial returns and potentially large gains. But take note that along with these, substantial risks are involved as well.

How And Why Are Futures Traded?

Trading futures has become quite popular in many markets, especially in day trading. These kinds of trades offer a wide variety of markets and it can be traded at a low cost. Futures can be traded in both up and down markets. If a particular trader expects the market to go up, a long trade is usually done wherein the trader buys a contract and then sells it. On the contrary, if a trader believes that the market will go down, and then he will most probably make a short trade by entering a trade through selling a contract and then exiting by buying another contract.

With this system, traders are able to profit regardless of what direction the market trends are going. This is the main reason why most traders are only concerned if the market is moving at all, instead of which direction it is actually going.

In futures trading, instead of taking or making deliveries, a trader merely speculates his position in the market’s volatility by predicting directions of trends. If prices move in the right direction, then the trader would be able to profit. If this does not happen, then a trader would experience some losses.

This particular arena in trading can be very promising, but it involves so many risks as well. But if you are well experienced in trading stocks and have adopted quite an understanding in the different trends, behaviours and strategies that the industry has to offer, then chances are, you may probably do well in this particular playing field.

All of this may sound pretty easy at the moment, but if you are planning to engage in futures trading, make sure that you do your research and prepare yourself with the necessary knowledge and skills to successfully execute transactions.

Along with huge profits possible, there are a lot of risks involved and trading futures without the right background can be very detrimental.

Comparing Two Types Of Investments

There are two major types of investments done in the stock-trading arena these days –short-term investments and long-term investments. If you find yourself overwhelmed and confused in choosing which type would be best, simply take note of the differences between these two varieties and consider the advantages and disadvantages of each to be guided in making the right decisions.

Basically, the major difference between the two investments is the fact that short-term plans are actually designed to show a substantial yield in a short time period. While long-term investments, on the other hand, are designed to last for quite a few years and present a slow yet progressive increase in its yield.

Let us discover more about the differences when it comes to the disadvantages and advantages of each type of investment.

Short-Term Investments

The major advantages of investing for a short-term plan are the potentials for growth at a very fast period of time, ranging from a few weeks to a few months. Although there may be fluctuating trends that could affect the market, short-term loans can still allow you more control over your money and you it is more likely that you can keep a more watchful eye on your investment.

However, this type of investment may be a bit riskier due to the fluctuations present in such a volatile stock market, as mentioned above. As compared to its long-term counterpart, this type of investment may much easily be affected by unpredictable circumstances because it is in a shorter period of time. And so, even if there is a very huge chance that you can make a lot of money in this type of investment, there are also great chances that you can lose a lot.

Long-Term Investments

For long-term investment plans on the other hand, there is a greater ability for this type of investment to gain small and distributed profits over a longer time frame. And because it has a slow-but-steady pace, it becomes more stable and involves fewer risks.
But of course, a disadvantage for the slow growth of your investments may indicate that you cannot expect to earn profit right away especially when you are badly in need of money. In addition, you may also have less control over your money because your investment would not mature right away.

Also take note that because investments may require a lot of fees to be paid as it progresses and due to occurring fluctuations in the market, most long-term investments may experience down time before they can actually climb up and become productive.

In choosing between these two major types of investments, the most important thing you have to consider in order to gauge which plan would become more beneficial to you is to contemplate on your reasons for investing.

If you invested in stocks with the ultimate goal to earn money fast then surely a short-term plan would suit you. But on the other hand, if you want to invest for future and insurance purposes like in cases wherein you want to have money when you grow old, then a long-term plan for investing is best.

Whatever your decision may be, always remember that there are advantages and disadvantage in all kinds of investments. And ultimately, to become successful in your endeavour, you must be willing to take on minimal risks and make smart decisions in order to manage your trades.
