Be Happy – Maintain Your Mental Peace

For ensuring sound health, we should ensure peace of mind first. The restlessness creates a number of tensions and ailments to disturb harmony amongst all the parts of the body. It can affect your job, future of children education, medical facilities, accommodation facility, health, spirituality related pursuits, hobbies, exercises, real estate, pension plans, banking, sports, saving plans, insurance and all other factors of your good life living. It baffles our vision. We can not concentrate in our meditation. We can be engrossed with fatigue and mental tensions unnecessarily.

For restoration of mental peace and your health, you may care for your attention patterns, concept regarding beauty, compassion, connections, devotion, enthusiasm, faith, forgiveness, grace, gratitude, hope, hospitality, imagination, joy, justice, kindness, listening patterns, love, meaning, nurturing, openness, peace, play, questing, reverence, shadow, silence, teachers, transformation, unity, vision, wonder, mystery, yearning and zeal etc. As much you involve yourself in pursuing all these virtues, you will get yourself busy and mental restless may be at some distance. Even then, we may take precautions like:

1. We should not disturb others.

Sometime we feel irritated when someone else disturbs us without any provocation from our end. The same can happen to others also if you disturb others without any invitation. We create our own problems by interfering in others' affairs considering that our way is the best way, our logic is the perfect logic, and those who do not conform to our thinking must be driven to the right direction which we assume is our direction only. This is not fair. It denies the existence of individuality. No two human beings can think or act in exactly the same way. Why are you bothered about other’s interests without his invitation to speak in his support? We must keep care for our own business and we will have our peace of mind. At the time of our anger, we should have a lot of drinking water.

2. We should Forget and forgive.

Often, we nurture ill feeling inside our heart for the person who insults or harms us. We must identify the root cause of provoking him to insult or harm us. We forget that the insult or injury was done to us once but by nourishing the grievance we can go on excavating the wound forever. Therefore, we should cultivate the art of forgiving and forgetting. Life is too short to waste in such trifles. We must forget and forgive the petty faults and march on. The bigger ones can be studied deeply and proper remedy should be searched out at the earliest. As soon as we do it, it will help us to restore our mental balance.

3. We should not always crave for recognition.

We may take it for sure that this world is full of selfish people. Without selfish motive, they seldom praise anybody. They may praise you today because you are rich and have power but no sooner you are powerless, they will forget your achievement and start criticizing you.

Please assume that no one is perfect. Then, why do you value the words of praise of other selfish persons? Why do you crave for recognition? We must believe in ourself. People's praises do not last long. We may continue to do our duties ethically and sincerely.

4. We must afford no Jealousy!
Jealousy disturbs our peace of mind a lot. You know you work harder than your colleagues in the office but they get promotions, you do not. You started a business several years ago but you are not as successful as your neighbor whose business is only one year old. Should you be jealous? Nothing will be gained by blaming others for your misfortune. Jealousy will not get you anywhere, but will only give you restlessness. You must study the reasons why you fail. Once you identify, you can take corrective action to ensue quick relief from your mental restlessness.

5. You must change yourself according to the environment.

It is good if you encourage yourself to go against the tide. But sometimes, you will have to become diplomatic and await for the time the tide favors you. Till then, you may change yourself to suit the environment. As you do this, even the environment, which has remained unfriendly for you, will mysteriously appear to be congenial and harmonious. In this process, sometime, you may be feeling to be under some compulsion to compromise with your life long principles to adjust with the circumstances prevailing around you.

You may endure what cannot be cured. This is the best way to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. Every day we face numerous inconveniences, ailments, irritations and accidents that are beyond our control. We must learn to endure them cheerfully. This way, you will gain in patience, inner strength and will power. We must study the psychology of other’s mind.OK, at that juncture, you may take some steps backward if you are not able to convince other parties to your point and you see that a little loss can be recovered for a better gain afterwards. Please do the necessary adjustments for the pleasure of your own heart and mind as well as for those who create nuisance for the time being.

6. You should take genuine share only.

We often tend to take more responsibilities than we are capable to carry out. This is done to satisfy our ego. We must know our limitations and spend our free time on introspection and see if we are trying for our genuine share. This will reduce the manipulating thoughts (to grab more than our genuine share) in our mind, which make us restless. If we try to take other's share too in ingenuine terms, naturally, there would be some protest from the affected person - may be that protest be violent or non-violent but ultimately that can be responsible for fear in your mind. Fewer the thoughts, greater is the peace of mind.

7. Meditation can reorient our mind.

Meditation makes the mind thoughtless. This is the highest state of peace of mind. We must try and experience it. If we meditate earnestly for half an hour every day, we will tend to become calm during the remaining twenty-three and a half hours. Our mind will not be disturbed as much as before. This will increase our efficiency and we will turn out more work in less time.

8. An Empty mind is devil’s house.

All evil deeds start in the mind. We may keep your mind occupied in something positive, something worthwhile. For this, we can actively follow a hobby. We must decide what you value more - money or peace of mind. Our hobby, like social work may not always earn you more money, but we will have a sense of fulfillment and achievement. Even if we are resting physically, we can occupy ourselves in healthy reading.

9. We should not postpone the jobs again and again without valid reason.

We must not waste time in wondering "should I or shouldn't I?" Days, weeks, months and years may be wasted in that futile mental debating. This way, we can never plan enough because we can never anticipate all future happenings. We must value our time and do things. It does not matter if we fail the first time. We can rectify our mistakes and succeed the next time. Sitting back and worrying will lead to nothing. We must learn from our mistakes but do not brood over the past. We must not regret if somewhere we fail in spite of our well decisioning. We must try to rethink and find out the reasons. We must act upon the corrective action immediately without postponing them.

Be Happy – we must restore our mental peace.
